How to use the InPage to Unicode Converter

InPage and Unicode: what changes during conversion?

Older InPage documents encode Urdu using legacy character codes. Pasting those codes into a modern website can produce Latin symbols or unreadable text. Unicode assigns standard characters to Urdu letters, making the result searchable and editable across modern apps. Changing a font alone does not convert the underlying encoding.

Convert an INP file to editable Urdu

1. Open the InPage to Unicode converter and choose the first tab.
2. Upload your original INP file or a supported backup such as B01, B02, BAK or BKP. The maximum upload is 10 MB, subject to your hosting limit.
3. Press convert. Read the output before copying it: compare names, dates, punctuation and paragraph breaks with the source.
4. Download UTF-8 TXT for a website or messaging app. Choose Word-compatible DOC or RTF when you want an editable document with the selected text styling.

Convert Unicode Urdu back to InPage

Choose the second tab and paste Urdu text, upload a UTF-8 TXT file, or upload DOCX. DOCX import reads document text and paragraph breaks; it does not preserve tables, images, headers or page design. For legacy DOC or RTF input, open the document in Word and save it as UTF-8 plain text first.

Use the InPage clipboard option or download import TXT. An INP download uses a bundled template with fixed text capacity. If the converter rejects a long INP export, split the text or use import TXT instead. Check the imported text in your installed InPage version before replacing an original document.

What the converter preserves and what it does not

This is a text conversion tool. It is not a page-layout converter or OCR service. Fonts, pictures, multi-column positioning and tables need to be rebuilt in the destination application. Unsupported characters and mixed Urdu/English punctuation require manual review. Keep an unchanged copy of the source file.

Fix common conversion problems

• No text found: confirm the file is an InPage document, then try copying legacy text from InPage into the paste mode. Renaming another file to INP does not make it compatible.
• Urdu letters look disconnected: try an Urdu-capable font in the destination application and enable right-to-left paragraph direction.
• Numbers or brackets appear reversed: review the paragraph direction and mixed-language runs against the original. Do not reverse the whole document blindly.
• Upload fails: try a smaller file. PHP hosting upload limits may be below the displayed 10 MB tool limit.
• Word shows a file-format notice: the DOC download is a Word-compatible HTML document, not a native DOCX package. RTF or TXT are alternatives.

Privacy and practical limits

Conversion runs on the website server. Uploaded files use PHP temporary storage; this converter does not save documents to a library or database. Do not confuse this with the site's browser-only tools. Review the privacy policy before uploading sensitive material. Unicode conversion supports up to 25,000 words or 120,000 characters per request; INP export is further limited by the template capacity.
